Claus B. Madsen, Ph.D.
BIO
Claus B. Madsen was born in Assens, Denmark in June 1965. He received
his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Aalborg University in 1990 and 1994
respectively. He held post doc positions at University of Coimbra in
Portugal (1994 to 1995) and at the Royal Institute of Technology in
Sweden (1995) before assuming a position as assistant professor at
Aalborg University, Denmark. He is now an associate professor at the
Laboratory of Computer Vision and Media Technology, Aalborg University
(CVMT/AAU).
Claus B. Madsen has authored or co-authored more than 70 papers in the
areas of computer vision, computer graphics, robotics and virtual
reality. He serves on the programme committee of the Graphics Theory
and Applications conference (GRAPP), he regularly acts as reviewer for
international journals and conferences, and he organized the 2007
edition of the Scandinavian Conference on Image Analysis (
www.scia2007.dk).
He has co-proposed and been technical manager of two large EU funded
projects (PUPPET, The Educational Puppet Theatre of Virtual Worlds,
1998 to 2000, and BENOGO, Being There Without Going, 2002 to 2005). He
currently has a grant from the Danish Research Council for project
CoSPE, Computer Vision-Based Estimation of Scene Parameters, 2004 to
2012.
Claus B. Madsen current research interest lie in the field between
computer graphics and computer vision, especially on estimating and
modelling the illumination conditions in real scenes so as to make it
possible to render virtual objects into the scenes with consistent
illumination. He primarily teaches subjects relating to computer
graphics rendering.
