In the Virtual Puppet Theatre young children can interact and play with life-like virtual playmates in a virtual 3D-world and learn how they can influence the reactions and behaviours of others through play actions of own choice. The purpose of the project is to explore the use of Virtual Environments and Autonomous Agents for early learning in a theatrical context for children's play. The perspective is a range of life-like characters with personalities specified by the child, and then to allow full improvisations with emergent behaviours and stories developing.
