Aug 3, 2001	Internal meeting. Present: EG, MST, TBM Purpose: To get a common understanding of the Arthur concepts. Summary: We went through a list of questions originating from reading the Annex 1. We debated mainly concepts and in particular the choice between mono and stereo.

Aug 9, 2001 13:15 - 15:00	Internal meeting. Present: EG, MST, TBM Purpose: To get a common understanding of the Arthur concepts. Summary: Discussion, based on papers, if fusion of computer vision based and ultra sound tracker is necessary. Head pose estimation from pure computer vision tracking might be too slow (latency > 10ms). We might use digital cameras which can grab ROI, or framegrabber which can do pre-processing. Another problem with pure computer vision tracking is when the user is not looking at the workspace, which might be solved with panoramic views. We decided to use two cameras (stereo) per HMD, mainly to be able to estimate 3D models of arbitrary placeholder objects and for gesture recognition, e.g. interact with a virtual 3D menu. We will prepare for the kickoff meeting a detailed specification of work-package 4 about performance and hardware requirements. We should think about questions to be solved at the kickoff meeting. Furthermore, the draft internal workplan should be improved.
