HERMES: Human gait data set
This site contains description of and links to the gait data
sets recorded and annotated by CVMT for the Hermes project.
The data set contains video of a single person walking and running at six different speeds and with
four different moving directions. A number of special cases are also included in the data set. These are
carying a briefcase and changing direction of motion while in the field of view of the camera.
Examples of the data.
The data set contains 10 videos. The first five videos has executions of the six gait speeds: slow walk, normal walk,
fast walk, jogging, running, and sprinting. Each execution contains several gait cycles.
All videos contain more than 300 empty frames in the beginning for training of a background model
for background subtraction. The data is organized as follows:
- cvmt_gait_0_1_divx.avi: Motion direction orthogonal to view-direction (0 degrees) - first sequence. (Two executions of "running").
- cvmt_gait_0_2_divx.avi: Motion direction orthogonal to view-direction (0 degrees) - second sequence.
- cvmt_gait_30_divx.avi: Motion direction 30 degrees compared to view-direction.
- cvmt_gait_45_divx.avi: Motion direction 45 degrees compared to view-direction.
- cvmt_gait_60_divx.avi: Motion direction 60 degrees compared to view-direction. (Sprinting slows down at the end due to an obstacle in the scene).
- cvmt_gait_suitcase_0_divx.avi: Carrying a suitcase at four speeds: slow walk, normal walk, fast walk, and running. 0 degrees moving direction.
- cvmt_gait_30tp30_divx.avi: Entering the scene at 30 degrees and leaving at -30 degrees. Two speeds: normal walk and running.
- cvmt_gait_30tp30_divx.avi: Entering the scene at 45 degrees and leaving at -45 degrees. Two speeds: normal walk and running.
- cvmt_gait_30tp30_divx.avi: Entering the scene at 60 degrees and leaving at -60 degrees. Two speeds: normal walk and running.
- cvmt_gait_random_divx.avi: A random walk in the field of view of the camera. One speed: normal walk.
The video resolution is 640x480 at 30 fps. The videos are encoded with the DIVX 6.8 codec.

Additional data
Some additional data from a different location and with a narrow view. The video properties are the same as above.
- cvmt_gait_add_1_divx.avi: Six motion speeds in reversed order performed at 0 degree moving direction.
- cvmt_gait_add_2_divx.avi: Walking backwards at 0 degree moving direction. Two speeds: slow walk and normal walk.
- cvmt_gait_add_3_divx.avi: 30 degree moving direction. Four speeds: normal walk, sprinting, jogging, slow walk.
