The purpose of this field session was to measure gap fraction and canopy structure using a high-dynamic-range RGB (HDR-RGB) camera. The camera was mounted on the API field robot. In addition, a multi-spectral CROPSCAN sensor was mounted on the API for reference measurements. At each sample site, the crops were photographed from a compass angle orthogonal to the crop row direction. The camera was mounted in a 30 degrees zenith angle.
This session was part of a large field experiment, consisting of 192 plots with different combinations of crop sorts and treatments. At each plot, reference measurements of LAI were made with the Licor LAI-2000 instrument.
