The following gives a short description of the various themes for the different semesters of the Bachelor and Master education in Medialogy.

1st Year

1. semester, P0 & Visualise the unknown
When you arrive at the University you will be divided into groups of maximum 7 students in each. Each group will be allocated a supervisor. Together with the supervisor you will find a theme for the project P0, that will last for 3 weeks. The main objective of P0 is to introduce you to study form at Aalborg University. P0 is finished by an examination where you have to present and defend your project.

After P0 you will make a new project P1 that runs for the rest of the semester. In P1 you form your groups yourself. In this way you may team up with students which you share interest with. The theme for the project is "visualise the unknown", i.e. use visualisation to explain or present new "unknown" information for a specific target group.

2. semester, Designing from both sides of the screen
At the beginning of the second term you will start by forming groups and develop your project that runs for the whole semester. The theme "designing from both sides of the screen", is about development of interactive medias with a screen as the interface between the user and the system, i.e. a PC. A project could for example be about designing a installation for an exhibition about Holocaust, or an edutainment game for the 7. grade public school about immune biology.

2nd Year

3. semester, Human senses – Digital Perception
This semester will focus on the modality vision. You will learn about basic sensorial processing in humans and how parts of the human visual system can be simulated in a computer program using digital image processing. In the project you will learn how to analyze, design, implement, and evaluate a technical system where digital image processing plays an important role. The project will be motivated by, and analyzed in accordance with, a real-world problem. This problem is either related to the human senses or an alternative way for humans to interface with a technical system, e.g., an interface to a game.

4. semester,  Interaction Design
This semester you will learn how to design and build new interfaces embedded with sensors. You will build physical objects which you can touch, squeeze, move around, and which will send information of your actions to the computer. You will also learn about sound design and how to program your own sound effects. In the project, you will combine sensors and sounds to design new tangible interfaces such as musical instruments or game controllers.

3rd Year, final Bachelor year

5. semester,  Animated Environments and Visual Effects
The focus of the 5th semester is on 3D Computer Graphics and Animation. There are courses on these topics aiming at enabling you to create your own computer generated film sequences or interactive applications such as 3D games. The project on this semester will involve designing and implementing/producing an application which uses 3D computer graphics to communicate some kind of narrative (has a storyline) to a user or a group of users. The project can for example mix computer generated imagery with live action footage, or it can be about making a computer game to teach people about the daily lives of vikings.

6. semester, Interactive Media Systems
At the 6. semester you will make your Bachelor thesis. You can do the thesis on your own or in a small group. The theme Interactive Media Systems, opens for various projects within medialogy, so you can make a final project that meets your interest. It can be a computer game, an info- edutaiment system, a media installation or perhaps a whole new idea within interactive media systems.

4th to 5th year, Master of Medialogy

After you have finished your Bachelor you may either go into the media industry or continue at the university to obtain a Master of Science degree in Medialogy.

At present the Master programs are under revision but in general there will be offered two direction one with emphasis on the technical aspect of Medialogy and another with emphasis on the design aspects.
